Philatelist KaleidoscopeAuthors have produced an excellent reference book which encompasses various aspects of philately and topics of general knowledge, profusely illustrated with relevant colourful images of stamps.

The publication starts with a short introduction of stamp collecting as hobby and gives overview of branches of philately, Indian Postal System, Postal heritage buildings, Postal Services available for general public, types of post offices, postage stamps and postal stationery available in India etc. It contains valuable information and tips to collectors, what to collect and what to study with definitions of various philatelic items and types of cancellations.

The book covers general information about India and Interesting facts about Nation’s pride including National Emblem, Flag, Song and many more facts. Authors have also covered information on various institutions, authorities, awards and awardees, oldest establishments, Presidents and Prime Ministers of India, Flora and Fauna of India, Religion and festivals of India etc. Details are also included information about philatelic issues related to Mahatma Gandhi.

Fascinating Indian Stamp Facts could have been dealt separately in independent Chapter. However the best part of the book is each chapter and topic covered is illustrated with images of relevant postage stamps issued in India. Phila Quotes by famous personality with stamp images and Phila Facts are other attractions of the book. Printing of the book is excellent and has beautiful layout.

In short this book is a kaleidoscope in true sense which tells the full story about Bharat Darshan through Philately and intended to be a companion for new entrants in philately and for the students, academicians, historians and philatelists as well.

About the Authors:

Dr Bibhudatta Mishra, has completed his Post Graduation in Chemistry from Regional Engineering College (Presently NIT), Rourkela and Doctorate from Utkal University. He is a researcher by profession and Philatelist by passion. He has developed a specialized philatelic collection on fish and water animals. He was felicitated as the favourite writer award by “Kunikatha” for the Year 2013.

Shri Shanti Swarup Rath, is graduated in B. Sc. (Hons.) from B. J. B. College, Odisha and have done MBA from Berhampur University. He served in various Corporate and Government organisations. He has developed a good collection of Indian Postal Stationery and in Thematic he collects on ‘Tiger’.
